I love the vibe of this place! It resembles a Japanese fine-dining experience with fresh sushi on display. We sat on a booth with a door, so you can have private/business conversation there. The order took around 15 mins, and everything was super fresh - especially the sushi.

This is my second visit, and both times I come here for the fresh sushi - it's kind of pricy, but you know what you paid for.
*ps: the chicken katsu curry and the noodles is a must try too! The curry sauce and broth is probably one of the very best I've ever tried in Boston.

Good sushi in a unique environment. Not the best value, which is why only 3 stars.
The environment of the restaurant is dynamic and definitely one of the most unique settings. There are options to sit in private booths that take up one small room! You can sit in what looks like a club! You can sit in a classic dining room! You can sit in a dining room with a light show on the ceiling! You can sit at a sushi bar! So many sitting options. The entrance has a koi pond, which is unique (pictured).

    Service was fine.

    Food:
pros: The baked rolls were absolutely delicious. Fish quality seemed good. I would have preferred my salmon in the Alaska roll to be cold. It was served room temperature. Personal preference, I suppose. Portion sizes were very standard.

I would not say that this sushi restaurant is worth the price. (You can expect to spend about $30 per person before tip). The standard rolls are about $2-4 more on average here, and there is not $2-4 more quality in these rolls as opposed to any other average sushi restaurant.

Aside from that, the ginger seemed to not be high quality. (flimsy, and very pink).

Would I go again? No, because I can get the same quality dinner down the road for $10 less.

This place was just not good. We came here for the sushi, which is what it's supposedly know for, and it was disappointing. Whenever I go to a sushi place I order an avocado roll. It's basic but it's also easy to make and should be good. At Fugakyu the avocado pieces were very small and not fresh. The raw fish also didn't taste fresh. The edamame was overcooked, sushi rice was hard ect. ect. ect.

It's too bad because I really liked the funky interior and the wait staff was very pleasant.

Felt like I was sitting in an authentic Japanese restaurant! That being said, I have some American needs which were left hanging. Loves the Japanese feel music, seating, server outfits, architecture and menu. Is a two level on the inside. Food was good, had the shrimp dumplings for appetitizer and ramen soup for entree, good portions. Was a little let down that they didn't have anything to spice up my food with except chili flakes.

Most common question they get is whether or not they had Sriracha, to which their server tells everyone no. No chili paste/oil either.

Parking is on beacon Street in the middle like other establishments.

Food was good, but a tad pricey for what you get. Dinner for two will ring up $130-150 with a drink.

Grilled eggplant with fried garlic - this was unique, but cooked to perfection.... and healthy!

Sake Ae on - this was alright, creamy with mayo, but lacked taste.

Sake Kinuta maki - Salmon with cucumber wrapped with a dash of ponzu sauce. This was delicious! Highly recommend!

Salmon sashimi - salmon was fresh and tasty!
